S57 manual update editor
The ECDIS supports the automatic updating of S 57 data as described above but also allows
the data to be manually corrected. The change can be visualized and do not restrict the
ability of automatic updating.
There are three different ways of changing objects by manual updating:
•
Deleting and annotating objects
•
Modifying objects
•
Inserting objects
All manual updates applied in the cell are stored in a log file and can be review on request.
In ECDIS the modification of objects is limited to adding text information or moving objects.
The latter is implemented as deleting the object and afterward inserting a copy.
The ECDIS provides functions to cancel or withdraw manual updates and to query objects,
which have been inserted by manual updates.
A manual update always has effect on only one particular cell. This cell has to be assigned to
the view.
