Installing the stuffing tube
In order to secure the vessel’s watertight integrity, it is extremely important that the
transducercable penetrates the ship’s hull in a safe manner. One suggested method is to use
a stuffing tube and a cable gland. The cable gland consists of a rubber gasket, washers
and a packing nut.
Prerequisites
• The transducer cable must be fitted with the rubber gasket, washers and packing nut.
• The installation arrangement has been approved by the relevant authority.
• All relevant personnel (skilled shipyard workers, ship electricians) and their tools must
be available.
Context
These items are all provided as a part of the transducer delivery.
