Private Calls
The type of private call can be set to Full Off Air Call Set-Up (FOACSU) or Off Air Call
Set-Up (OACSU) via base station.
n
FOACSU
- During call setup, the calling radio rings. The called party answers a
call manually.
n
OACSU
- During call setup, the calling radio does not ring. The called party
answers a call automatically.
Making a Private Call
A private call can be made through any of the following methods:
n
through Contact or Call Log;
n
via Manual Dial; and
n
through the Redial or Backdial List.
Receiving a Private Call
When a private call is received, the alert tone is given and the incoming call icon is
displayed on the LCD display. The first text line displays the caller alias or ID.

Notes:
i. If the private call type is set to FOACSU, ringtones will be played from the radio
speaker and the radio user will have to actively answer the call.
ii. If the private call type is set to OACSU, the radio will automatically answer the
call without any user intervention.
Voice Communication
After a private call is established, either the calling party or the called party can make a
voice call only if the PTT key is free. The PTT key is free when the radios of both parties
display the PTT Admit screen. The PTT Admit screen is displayed immediately after a
call is established and when neither party is speaking. With no activity it will remain
displayed until the preset inactivity time expires.
