Anti-frost liquid
The special heat-transfer liquid used in the closed circuit pro-
tects the system against freezing and the build-up of salt inside
the collector’s pipes. The gap in which the heat-transfer fluid
circulates does not communicate with the water storage tank.
The heat-transfer fluid must be mixed with water in the right
percentage for protecting the system.
In the primary circuit, the heat-transfer fluid is made up of a
mixture of water and non-toxic inhibited propylene glycol for
food use, so as to prevent the solar collectors and outer piping
from freezing. At least 40% glycol must be added, as in this per-
centage the corrosion inhibitor contained in the anti-freeze liq-
uid prevents the substance from becoming acidic within a short
time (as thus attacking the system’s components).
The anti-freeze liquid is supplied in 10 kg tanks (code 8106094).

WARNING
– The company declines all responsibility for inade-
quate installation and incorrect use of the compo-
nents used to install the solar water heater.
– The use of water or other inappropriate liquid may
void the warranty.
– Once the installation has been completed, the area
where work was carried out must be cleaned and
tidied. The warranty form must be filled in, signed
by the customer and immediately sent to the com-
pany. The customer must also fill in the checklist
provided by the company.
2.2
General prevention measures
a
WARNING
– When installing solar thermal systems and the rel-
ative pipes, follow the accident-prevention instruc-
tions and the safety rules.
– Keep the work area clean and free of objects that
could hinder the work operations.
– Do not allow children, animals and other people
from coming into contact with the tools or from
approaching the work site. This rule must be ob-
served, especially when existing buildings are be-
ing restructured.
– Store the anti-freeze liquid in a safe place out of
reach of children.
– When maintenance works, assistance or changes
to the installation are being carried out, remove the
electrical devices and instruments of the current
collector or protect them against accidental acti-
vation.
– Exclusively use the tools intended for this specific
solar heating system. The use of other components
or inappropriate tools can lead to accidents.
Requirements relating to personnel
– Solar heating systems can only be installed by specialised
companies or trained personnel possessing the appropriate
authorisation.
– Works on electrical systems or conductors must be carried
out exclusively by trained and specialised electricians.
Personal protective equipment
– Wear safety glasses, an adequate work overall, safety foot-
wear and a protective helmet and, in case of long hair, an
appropriate mesh to gather them.
– Do not wear baggy garments or jewellery, as they could get
tangled in moving parts.
– If, despite the use of safety glasses, the anti-freeze liquid
comes into contact with the eyes, rinse them thoroughly with
water while keeping the eyes well open.
– Wear a protective helmet when performing installation works
at the level of the head or above it.
Installing the calorifier
– Use forklift trucks suited to the size and weight of the calo-
rifier for transporting, assembling and installing the device.
– Protect the enamelled surface against impacts that could oc-
cur during transport and installation.
– There is a risk of accidents due to the weight of the calorifier.
Make sure that the load-bearing capacity of the surface on
which the calorifier will be installed is adequate, also with
the calorifier full.
2.3
Protection against lightning
The metal parts of the entire system conform to the general
requirements of the ELOT 1197 standard and to the special re-
quirements regarding protection against lightning of the ELOT
1412 standard, which takes into account the environmental
conditions and the altitude.
