Many variables af fect Carbon Monoxide Gas
(CO) accumulation. Among these are the fol-
lowing:
•
Yacht layout and con
fi
guration.
•
Location of hatch, window, door and
ventilation
openings.
•
Location of structures and other boats.
•
Wind direction.
•
Vessel speed.
This Owner ’s Manual cannot identify or de-
scribe every possible variable or combination
of variables that may affect the accumulation of
Carbon Monoxide Gas (CO). The yacht operator
must remain aware at all times of the possibility
of its accumulation, the prevention of its accu-
mulation and the appropriate action to be taken
if it is detected.
Be certain to read and have a thorough under -
standing of the
Carbon Monoxide (CO) Detec-
tor System Section
of this Owner’s Manual. It
contains valuable information and warnings for
you and your passengers’ safety.
The following illustrations show how Carbon
Monoxide Gas (CO) can accumulate in your
yacht while either at your dock or underway .
Become familiar with these examples and their
precautions to prevent exposure to this poison-
ous gas.
Blocked hull exhaust outlets
near a pier, dock, seawall, bulkhead, or any
other structure can cause excessive accumu-
lation of Carbon Monoxide Gas (CO) within
the cabin areas of your yacht. Be certain hull
exhaust outlets are not blocked in any way.
Engine and generator exhaust
from other vessels alongside your yacht,
while docked or anchored, can cause exces-
sive accumulation of Carbon Monoxide Gas
(CO) within the cabin and cockpit ar eas of
your yacht. Be alert for exhaust from other
vessels.
