Before You Start
Warning:
Review the warnings and precautions listed in this manual before setting up or
servicing this chassis. These include the items described in
Tools and Supplies Needed
•
Phillips (cross head) screwdriver
•
Anti-static wrist strap and conductive foam pad (recommended)
Left-Right and User Position
All references to left, right, front, top, and bottom assume you are facing the front of the chassis
as it would be positioned for normal operation.
Removing the Chassis Cover
Caution:
Except for short periods of time, do not operate the server without the cover in place.
The chassis cover must be in place to allow proper airflow and prevent overheating.
Use the following procedure for removing the chassis cover as illustrated in
Note:
Ensure that the system is not turned on or connected to AC power.
1.
If the server is rack-mounted, grasp the two front handles and pull the server straight out
until it locks.
You will hear a click when it locks. To remove the system from the rack completely, depress
the locking tabs on the chassis rails (push the right-side tab down and the left-side tab up) to
continue to pull the system out past the locked position.
2.
If the two optional screws are securing the cover to the chassis, remove them, one from each
side of the cover.
