Device description
The turbine flow sensor VTR consists of the turbine meter and the externally fitted pick-up.
The liquid to be measured flows into the turbine and sets the rotor in motion. The rotational
speed is directly proportional to the flow rate. Movement of the rotor blades is detected by
the pick-up and converted into a flow rate proportional pulse signal.
The number of pulses per unit volume for each individual instrument is determined during
calibration and termed “calibration factor” K-factor (pulse/litre). This is stated on the type
plate.
Types
The turbine meter is available in two designs:
•
with thread connection (DN 10...DN 50)
•
with flanged connection (DN 10... DN 300)
Pick-up
Four pick-up types are available:
•
VISPP: Standard version with sinus-signal.
•
VISPP-HT: Standard version for high temperatures with sinus-signal.
•
VSAPPS: Version with square-wave output signal, NPN or PNP switching.
•
VSAPPSHT: Version with square-wave output signal
for high temperatures, NPN or PNP switching.

Intended use
The flow sensors of the series VTR may only be used for flow rate measurements or dosing of
liquids. Never use them for gas measurements.
WARNING! No safety component!
The flow sensors of the series VTR are not safety components in accordance with Di-
rective 2006/42/EC (Machine Directive).
Never use the VTR as a safety component.
The operational safety of the device supplied is only guaranteed by intended use. The speci-
fied limits (
§ 7 “Technical Data ”) may under no circumstances be exceeded.
Before ordering and installation, check that the material of the turbine flow sensor is suitable
for the medium to be measured and the application (
