Properties of PROFINET IO IRT on the SIMOTION P320-3
SIMOTION P320-3 has the following properties in conjunction with PROFINET IO:
● PROFINET IO specifies operation at 100 Mbps (full-duplex operation).
● Minimum sending cycle with SIMOTION P320-3 is 250 μs.
● Maximum sending cycle is 4 ms:
– Grid for IRT only: 125 µs
– Grid for mixed RT/IRT: 0.5 ms, 1 ms, 2 ms, 4 ms
● The SIMOTION P320-3 supports a total of max. 4 KB for each input and output.
● Controller-controller data exchange broadcast:
Max. 3 KB of data possible for each input and output direction.
As a publisher, an IO controller sends data to one or more IO controllers, e.g. to an
additional SIMOTION P320-3 with PROFINET onboard controller.
● SIMOTION P320-3 as I-device (intelligent device):
Max. 1400 bytes possible. Each module can be up to 254 bytes in size.
● A standard Ethernet node, e.g. PC/ engineering system (SCOUT/STARTER) or HMI, can
be connected to a free port of the PROFINET IO interface of the IRT modules.
Special settings on the standard Ethernet node are not required here.
● The PROFINET onboard controller has three ports that all belong to one interface and
represent a switch.
● The cable length between two ports may not exceed 100 m with stiff copper conductors.
There is no minimum length.
Greater distances can be bridged with fiber-optic cables, for example.
● SIMOTION and SINAMICS with PROFINET support PROFIdrive in accordance with
IEC61800-7-203 (PROFIdrive Profile V4.1).
