Glossary
Absolute angular measuring system
By using several reading tracks, the motor is able to recognize the current position with
the angle measuring system immediately after switching on. The position is identified
without any rotation and is transferred via the serial EnDat, SSI or DRIVE-CLiQ interface.
The measuring tape (graduation embodiment) has a limited length. The system is more
expensive due to the more complex measurement track.
Combined cable
Power and signal connection in one cable.
Incremental angle measuring system
To determine the position of the motor in the machine using an incremental angle
measuring system, the motor must travel to a reference point after being switched on.
There are several zero marks for distance-coded incremental angle measuring systems.
The absolute position is known after passing two zero marks. Distance-coded systems
are only supported by SINUMERIK.
Rotor segment
Contrary to a
→
stator segment, a rotor segment is not electrically active. The rotor
segment is equipped with permanent magnets. The
→
rotor segment track or the
→
rotor
comprises rotor segments and forms the reactive component of the segment motor.
Rotor segment track
Generally, the rotor or the rotor segment track comprises several
→
rotor segments. The
rotor or the rotor segment track can be used as moving component as well as stationary
component of a segment motor.
Segment motor
The segment motor comprises a
→
stator and a
→
rotor or a
→
rotor segment track.
Stator
The stator comprises n = i x k
→
stator segments.
n: Number of
→
stator segments of a stator
i: Number of
→
stator segment groups
k: The number of
→
stator segments electrically connected in parallel to a power
module.
