Selecting the stator segments
Select suitable stator segments using the values determined for the peak torque M
mMAX
and rms torque of the duty cycle M
eff
.
Important points to consider when selecting the stator segments
•
If more than one stator segment generates torque for a specific axis, the values of the
maximum M
MAX
and rated torques M
N
of each of the individual stator segments must
be added together.
•
Avoid undesirable limiting effects when control loops overshoot by planning a torque
margin: Choose stator segments for your motor with a total maximum torque M
MAX
≳
1.1 x peak torque M
mMAX
.
•
The rated torque M
N
of the motor must be at least as large as the calculated rms
torque of the duty cycle M
eff
.
•
If certain general conditions (e.g. machining torque or frictional torque) are not
known, then you are advised to include an even higher reserve.
•
In addition to the requirements resulting from the duty cycle, mechanical installation
conditions may influence your choice of motor.
•
If you want to operate the motor at minimum speed for a prolonged time, choose
stator segments with appropriately larger rated torques. On this, see Chapter "Uneven
current load (Page 91)".
5.1.6
Specifying the number of rotor segments
Number of rotor segments required for the rotor segment track
The rotor track comprises individual rotor segments. The dimensions of the various rotor
segments are specified in the data for the reference motor. You can contact your local
Siemens office for additional rotor segment dimensions.
The number of rotor segments required depends on
•
The required angle of rotation (
φ
= 0
°
... 360
°
)
•
The motor diameter
When fully equipped, you require 8 rotor segments for each stator segment.
