Coupled stator segments
Using an example, this chapter shows how to integrate a segment motor with 9 coupled
stator segments into a system.
The protective conductor connections PE and the shields are not shown for reasons of
transparency. Refer to the Chapter "Shielding, grounding and equipotential bonding".
When using other segment motors, your local Siemens office will support you when
configuring the components required to integrate the segment motor into an overall
system. Contact data is provided in the introduction under "Technical Support".
Note
Country-specific safety requirements for parallel operation
Country-specific safety requirements and regulations apply when connecting motors in
parallel at a Motor Module.
For example, in the US, for special motor protection, carefully comply with the
requirements laid down in standards NFPA 70 and NFPA 79.
You can connect segment motors with several stator segments connected in parallel to
one Motor Module - as well as to several Motor Modules. When doing this, observe the
following points:
•
You must check the position of the counter EMF, as the stators are coupled with one
another through the rotor.
•
Every Motor Module - also in a master-slave group - requires encoder information for
commutation.
This encoder information should be realized using the following components:
–
Several encoder heads, including the identical number of Sensor Modules (SMx)
–
Encoder head with a splitter box (analog/digital) to split the encoder signal. In this
case, the same number of Sensor Modules (SMx) is required as under the previous
point. It may be necessary to observe the dead time of the signal processing within
the splitter box itself.
–
An encoder head with the associated Sensor Module and SINAMICS TEC
application SERVCOUP to split the encoder signal per software.
When several Motor Modules are involved, we recommend the system-tested TEC
solution. You then require significantly fewer hardware components.
