Other types of nodes that can be connected to a SIMATIC PCS 7 OSx
system are described below.
Control Node
The programmable controller(s) that runs the process itself
is defined as a control node.
Engineering Station
The plant engineer uses the engineering station to
run APT or the S7 Engineering Toolset to create the application (controller)
program.
X Terminal
The plant engineer can connect an X terminal to the system.
The operator can use an X terminal to do all the normal runtime operations
that can be done on an OSx station.
Data Management Systems
The plant engineer can connect other
computers to the network to receive data collected by an OSx station for
historical records and other purposes. The @aGlance and RDT options
provide the means of supplying this data to these computers.
