Replacing the backup battery
The battery is used to back up the CMOS data for the BIOS setup and the real-time clock.
Note
Note the following points:
•
Check the maintenance interval.. You can find additional information in the section
"Maintenance intervals (Page 80)".
•
Replace the lithium battery only with an identical one or with a battery type
recommended by the manufacturer, see under "Requirement".
Requirement
•
For the current BIOS setup settings, see section "BIOS description (Page 101)".
•
The device is fully disconnected from the line voltage, see section "Switching off the

The device is open, see the section "Open the device. (Page 53)".
•
All cables on the device are unplugged.
•
1 lithium battery; for article number, see section "Accessories and spare parts (Page 20)"
Procedure
CAUTION
Danger from short circuit
Conductive materials cause a battery short-circuit or damage adjacent modules.
•
Only use insulated materials as tools for the battery replacement.
•
Do not touch any adjacent modules.
NOTICE
Damage to the battery
Grease residues from your hands damage the battery.
•
Do not touch the battery with your hands.
•
Use suitable gloves, for example.
Note
The configuration data of the device may be deleted after battery replacement, depending on
the BIOS setting. With BIOS setting "Profile: User", the configuration data of the device is
retained; only the date and time must be set again.
