Sensors
Multiple sensors monitor the device:
•
Temperature of processor, memory, mainboard and hard disk drives
•
Temperature of optional graphics cards
•
Speed monitoring of up to 6 fans
•
Pulse Width Modulated PWM fan connections
•
Voltage monitoring for processor, memory, other mainboard areas
•
Power and status of power supply modules with
r
edundant power supply (optional)
Monitoring options
There are two monitoring options: local monitoring and remote monitoring For remote
monitoring, the IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) is used for communication
with the system.
An extensive collection of software for implementing a Healthmonitoring solution in various
application scenarios is available on the Internet at IPMI (

Local monitoring
The device can be monitored locally, e.g. by tools such as SuperDoctor from Supermicro.
These enable sensor scans and control functions to be performed in a web interface or with
the command line.
Remote monitoring
Remote monitoring of one or more devices with the IPMIView software from Supermicro is
another option. IPMIView is a management software for remote maintenance of multiple
terminals in a network. Among the functions provided by IPMIView are the following:
•
Configuration management with IP address assignment
•
Firmware update
•
Access protection with user and PC group management
•
Password assignment and login
•
Sensor monitoring, e.g. battery status, temperature
•
Power management with remote switch-on and switch-off of system
•
System access at BIOS level
•
Integration of virtual media, e.g. installation medium
•
Event display with logging
•
KVM console (KVM-Over-IP for Video Redirection)
