ESCOPY
9.1
General
The program ESCOPY, executable under MS-DOS, makes
communication with the Acquisition Station ES 030 (
“
down
load operation") possible using the computers V.24 interface
(COM1/COM2). Using the PCOPY program, the
ES 030 user program, which was written under PCP/M in the
STEP5 programming language using a programmer (PG),
must first be copied from the PCP/M partition to MS-DOS. If
the STEP5 program was already written under MS-DOS, the
copying onto the MS-DOS partition with the PCOPY program
is not required.
9.1.1
Hardware Requirements
IBM compatible computer (PC, AT, PG 750, PG 730) with a
minimum of 640 Kbytes of main memory
V.24 interface (port 1/2)
ES 030
Connection cable between the ES 030 and the computer's
V.24 port
Note:
A VGA card with an appropriate screen is
required for
dialogue operation
. For dialogue
operation on the PG 730, the monochrome
mode must be switched on using the
MS-DOS command
“
mode mono".
9.1.2
Software Requirements
Operating system MS-DOS 3.xx and higher
The following files are contained on the shipped diskettes:
ESCOPY.EXE Program for communication between the
ES 030 and the PC
PCOPY.EXE Used to transfer S5 files from the PCP/M
partition to MS-DOS
These programs must be copied from the diskette into a
subdirectory that is to be created on the hard disk drive (e.g.,
C:\ES). In the AUTOEXEC.BAT file, the search path must be
appended accordingly with PATH C:\ES.
Caution:
The program ESCOPY installs its own serial
interface procedure (3964R) with the
appropriate parameters. The existing
initialisation of the serial interface will not be
saved.
The connection cable between the PG/PC and the
ES 030, as well as the diskettes containing the
corresponding programs, are shipped under the order
number 6AW5451-8AU.
9.2
Functions
ESCOPY transfers a STEP5 file (S5 file) to the ES 030 via a
serial interface (COM1 or COM2). The transferred user
program is stored in the ES 030 user memory (EEPROM).
Further functions of ESCOPY
- parameterize serial interface
- read the complete contents of the ES 030 user
memory and store it in an MS-DOS file (memory
copy).
- read the ES 030 bookkeeper
- erase the ES 030 user memory
- read a data block from the ES 030 and display it on the
screen. (This function is valid only if
“
download opera
tion" has been selected using the function key. Also
see the following
“
Remember" note).
- Reset ES 030 and start user program.
Remember:
Before communication commences, the ES 030 must be
switched to the
“

The ES 030 function keys can also be used to select
the
“
download" operational mode. For these function
keys, the value E2H must be stored in DB1 of the key
board code (DW11 - 40). After pressing the
“
Down
load function key", the ES 030 will immediately be in
the
“
download" mode of operation. The
“
