Grilling with the rotary spit

The rotary spit is particularly good for cooking large roasts,

such as rolled roasting joints or poultry. The meat becomes

crispy and brown.

Preparing roasts

To ensure that the roast is well-browned and cooked evenly,

observe the following points:

Skewering and securing the meat to the spit

Position the roast as close as possible to the centre of the

rotary spit.
Use the clamps to secure the roast at both ends. The rear

clamp must be a minimum of 7 cm from the end of the spit.
You may also use cooking string to bind and secure the roast.

When spit roasting poultry, bind the ends of the wings

underneath the back and secure the thighs to the body. This

prevents them from overbrowning. Pierce the skin on the

underside of the wings to allow the fat to escape.
The section

Tested for you in our cooking studio

 contains

many setting values for grilling with the rotary spit.
Select the appropriate oven temperature from the information

given in the table. If the temperature is too high, the meat or

poultry will burn on the outside, while inside it will remain largely

uncooked.

Inserting the rotary spit

1.

Place the frame for the rotary spit onto the universal pan

(Figure A).

2.

Place the rotary spit on the frame (Figure B).

3.

Insert the universal pan at level 1 as far as it will go. There is

an opening in the back oven wall, into which the rotary spit

must be inserted (Figure C).

4.

Unscrew the handle and close the oven door (Figure D).

5.

Select the “Rotary spit” type of heating and set the

temperature.

Automatic switch-off

If you do not change the settings on your appliance for several

hours, automatic switch-off is activated. The oven stops heating.

The point at which this occurs depends on the temperature or

grill setting that has been set.

Automatic switch-off is activated

A signal sounds. F8 appears in the display. The oven stops

heating.

Turn the function selector to the off position. The oven switches

off.

Overriding automatic switch-off

So that automatic switch-off is not activated when it is not

wanted, you can set a time period. The oven will heat until this

period has expired.

Self-cleaning

During self-cleaning, the oven heats up to approx. 500 . This

burns off residues from roasting, grilling or baking and you only

need to wipe the ashes from the cooking compartment.
You can choose from three cleaning levels.

The heavier and older the dirt, the higher the cleaning level

should be. It is sufficient to clean the cooking compartment

every two to three months. If required, you can clean the oven

more frequently than this. A cleaning cycle requires only

approx. 2.5 - 4.7 kilowatt hours.

Important notes

For safety reasons, the oven door locks automatically. You

cannot open the oven door again until the cooking

compartment has cooled slightly and the padlock symbol for

the locking mechanism disappears. Do not attempt to push in

the latch by hand.
Never attempt to open the oven door during automatic

self

cleaning. The cleaning cycle may be cancelled.

The oven light in the cooking compartment does not come on

during self-cleaning.

ã=

Risk of fire!

The outside of the oven becomes very hot. Make sure that
nothing is placed against the front of the oven. Never hang
flammable objects, e.g. tea towels, on the door handle. Keep
children at a safe distance.
