Order of directory entries
Directory entries are generally sorted alphabetically by surname. Spaces and
digits take first priority. If only the first name was entered in the directory, this
is incorporated into the sort order instead of the surname.
The sort order is as follows:

Digits (0–9)
§§3§§
Letters (alphabetical)
§§4§§
Other characters
To get round the alphabetical order of the entries, insert a space or a digit in
front of the first letter of the surname. These entries will then move to the
beginning of the directory. Names that you have prefixed with a star will move
to the end of the directory.
