UniMass Table
Some SITRANS F 1010 family flow meters provide a feature called UniMass. These flow
meters support a UniMass Table which associates the metered liquid’s current temperature
and sonic velocity (Vs) with its specific gravity and viscosity. These variables are then used
to provide mass metering and real-time flow profile compensation based on Reynolds
numbers.
Note
For hydrocarbon liquids requiring standard volume compensation, an FUH1010 Standard
Volume flow meter should be specified.
The table scanning routine can function with a minimum of two completely defined data
points (e.g. Temperature and Specific Gravity). UniMass will not project viscosity and
specific gravity measurements beyond the entered limits of the table but rather keep the
highest or lowest table entry as its output.
Building the UniMass Table
The table is built by inputting a series of data points—two inputs and two outputs each:
●
Input data consists of sonic velocity (Vs) and temperature.
●
Output data consists of specific gravity (S.G.) and viscosity (cS) at the specified Vs and
temperature.
UniMass Table Operation
The UniMass Table is designed to operate with individual families of liquids.
Although the UniMass Table is designed for variable temperature and sonic velocity,
Constant Vs or Constant Temp table editing capabilities are provided as well.
Application Data Menu Definitions for UniMass Table
The UniMass Table resides within the [Application Data] menu. Refer to Programming the
Transmitter (Page 49) for Installation Menu details.
[UniMass Table] - From the [Application Data] menu, press the <Right Arrow> to access the
UniMass data point editor.
