Instructions for Use Carina SW 3.n

General information on cleaning, 
disinfection and sterilisation

z

Comply with the hospital's hygiene regulations!

z

Clean the device after every patient.

z

Whenever the Carina device, trolley, hinged 
arm or gas supply hoses have been contami-
nated or potentially contaminated with body flu-
ids disinfect their surfaces with a suitable 
disinfectant e.g. Virex Tb.

In the case of disposable components, observe the 
manufacturer's recommendations. Replace dispos-
able components weekly or according to hospital 
regulations.

WARNING
In case of potential contamination with body 
fluids, clean and disinfect the device. Wear 
protective clothing, goggles, disposable 
gloves etc. Risk of infection for hospital staff 
and other patients. 

WARNING
Personnel should take precautions to avoid 
direct contact with chemical disinfectants and 
they should always be used in well-ventilated 
areas. Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) 
should be readily available in the event of 
accidental exposure.

WARNING
Do not sterilise parts in ethylene oxide!
Ethylene oxide can diffuse into the parts.
Health hazard!

WARNING
Penetrating liquid may lead to failure of the 
device or damage to the device and endanger 
the patient! Do not spray the disinfectant 
directly on the unit. Only disinfect parts by 
wiping and make sure no liquids penetrate 
into the device.
