Finding/Locating Wireless Probes
It is very important to carefully manage the location of your wireless probes and not misplace
them. Do not leave probes behind when performing mobile procedures.
The system provides a means of assisting in preventing the unintentional separation of the
wireless probe from the console. This feature uses the Bluetooth radios in the probe and
console to provide a basic level of monitoring of the connection and proximity of the wireless
probe to the console.
1. Enable
PROBE LOCALIZATION
in the
SETUP
/
SYSTEM
/
ADMIN
page.
2. When Probe Localization is enabled the system will monitor the Bluetooth signal strength
between the probe and the console when:
– the wireless probe is turned on and connected, and
– there is a scanned image in Freeze mode on the console
If the signal falls below a threshold, it may mean that the separation distance is
greater than is normally used for scanning. It may also mean that the probe is being
unintentionally separated from the console. In this situation, the probe will beep, and
the system will display a message on the screen advising you to locate and secure the
identified probe.
3. Press
OK
or
Silence
to acknowledge this message.
With a probe turned on and connected wirelessly, you can also help locate a probe by selecting
SETUP
/
PROBES
and pressing the
IDENTIFY
button. This will cause the connected probe to
beep.
With a probe turned on and connected wirelessly, when you turn the system console off, the
probe will beep.
NOTE:
The localization feature requires a probe to be turned on and connected
wirelessly to the console, and to be in
Freeze
, that is, not live scanning.
Enabling
Automatic Freeze
in the
SETUP
/
SYSTEM
/
ADMIN
page will improve the
function of this feature by automatically freezing the system when imaging is
not active. This feature is subject to uncertainties inherent to Bluetooth radio
connection quality and should not be relied on as a primary means of locating
probes.
