NOTE
The CC-CO is delivered with the MAIN UNIT jumper position. A converter must be reconfigured to a
SECONDARY UNIT for paired operation using a jumper (see
3.1 Main Unit and Secondary Unit Operating
).

Non-compliance leads to death or severe injury.

Work may only be carried out by electrically qualified personnel who are familiar with and observe the
safety requirements and precautions.

Never perform any work if hazardous voltages are present.
²
During connection work, completely de-energize the plant (control cabinet, switch panel) where the
device is to be operated.
²
You must isolate all poles of the CC-CO from the auxiliary voltage before opening!
²
Shut down or disconnect both poles of the auxiliary voltage.
NOTICE
Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
Nonobservance of the instructions means that electrostatic sensitive components may be damaged
or destroyed.

Adhere to the ESD regulations for Electrostatic Sensitive Devices (ESD) before you install or open the
CC-CO. There is no hazard when the device is installed and closed.

To open the device, loosen all 6 Phillips screws for the cover with a screwdriver (see
Settings in the Protection Device

In the differential protection and distance protection devices 7SD52, 7SD61, 7SA52, and 7SA6 in the
SIPROTEC 4 family as well as the line protection devices 7SA8, 7SD8, and 7SL8 in the SIPROTEC 5 family,
the protection interface which enables communication to take place with the opposite protection devices
must be configured to available. The transmission rate must be set to 128 kBit/s in both devices. The
difference in transmission time in the direction of transmission and reception can be set to 0.
Closing the CC-CO Cover
After configuration, the devices (main unit, main unit cascaded, and secondary unit) must be set in accor-
dance with

Ensure that the optical fiber and the reset button are guided into the drillings of the cover.

Fasten the communication-converter cover with 6 screws.
