NOTE
Check the optical fibers that have been assembled with ST connectors on one or both sides before you start
the installation.
An ST connector is required on the CC-CO connection side. Assemble the plug on the other side according
to the fiber-optic connection for the protection/terminal device (for example, ST connector, FSMA
connector).
²
Clamp the CC-CO onto a 35 mm × 7.5 mm DIN rail according to DIN EN 60715. Only horizontal wall
mounting is permitted (connections facing downwards).
²
Attach a solid low-impedance protective and working grounding to the connection side of the device
with an M4 screw. The cross-section of the line must be equal to the maximum cross-section of any other
control conductor connected to the device. It must thus be at least 2.5 mm
2
(AWG 14).
Line Interface
²
Connect the pair of wires to the Line connection of the CC-CO and the cable shielding to the shield using
a screwdriver with a M4 screw. The polarity of the connector is insignificant.
²
Connect the optical transmission line of the protection device to the optical reception connection of the
CC-CO and the reception interface of the protection device to the transmission connection of the CC-CO.
²
Attach the cables for the available auxiliary voltage to the CC-CO using a screwdriver. While doing so, pay
attention to correct polarity with direct voltage.
²
The Life Contact can be connected as a make contact or a break contact. Siemens recommends wiring as
a break contact if there is a fault (Life Contact 1 to 2), as this also enables line breaks and connection
contact errors to be detected.
