The task of the Communication Converter S
0
, CC–S

, is to perform an adaptation of the
available fibre optic active interface in the protection device (DTE) to the physical specifica-
tion of the respective interface of the communication network (DCE, NTBA). The adaptation
occurs completely bit–transparent, i.e. direct forwarding of the information without adding or
filtering out information. Figure 21 shows the hardware structure.
The parameter assignment of the CC–S

is done via the PC–Interface (RS 232) and the
special configuration program, FOS0–Configurator, which can be downloaded from

. Alternative a simple Terminal Program,
e.g. Hyper Terminal, can also be used.
