Installation
Before commencing installation, ensure that the following accessories are available:
screened Interface cable (min. 11-pole for X.21 or 4-pole for G.703.1),
Manual for the protection device,
Installation guide.
Please follow the installation guide.
Optical fibre cable fitted with ST-connectors at both ends,
Connection of the communication network,
Suitable tool
This manual.
Before installing the communication converter, ensure ESD safety!
The communication converter is clipped onto a DIN rail (EN 60715 TH35- 7,5).
Connect a solid low-resistance and low-inductance system earthing with at least one M4
screw. DIN 72333 type A earthing straps are suitable for this purpose. Connect the strap
to the protective earth of the switch panel or the cabinet.
When using the X.21-interface:
Connect the socket with the cable to the D SUB connector plug X.21 of the communi-
cation converter. Figure 3 shows the location of the interface connector plug. Figure
6 shows the pin assignment at the DTE terminal of the communication converter.
Plug the other end of the cable into the desired communication device.
Make sure that the interfaces are wired correctly and that the screen is applied at both
ends
When using the G.703.1 -interface:
Connect the plug with the cable to the D SUB socket G.703.1 of the communication
converter. Figure 3 shows the location of the interface socket. Figure 8 shows the pin
assignment at the DEE terminal of the communication converter.
Plug the other end of the cable into the desired communication device.
Make sure that the interfaces are wired correctly and that the screen is applied at both
ends.
