Product description
This chapter provides information on the principle of operation of the driver assistance
system and includes examples of its application.
3.1
Product characteristics
The driver assistance system consists of three main components.
The sensor head works with an integrated 2D camera to capture stereoscopic images
of a scene. It forwards the image data to an evaluation unit in the driver's cab.
The evaluation unit processes the data from the sensor head and converts the cap-
tured scene into a three-dimensional database. This database is used to detect objects
located in predefined alarm zones at ground level so that warnings can be issued to the
driver of the vehicle accordingly.
Warnings are output and the evaluation unit is configured via a display located in the
driver's cab.
The fitter has access to an HMI (Human Machine Interface) for the purpose of configu
-
ring the equipment. This is connected via USB and can be operated using a mouse and
keyboard combination.
This makes mounting, installation, and operation relatively easy for the operator.
