Shield
▸
Wire all connections provided by the customer using shielded copper cables to
protect the communication from external interference.
▸
Connect the shielding to the cabinet housing.
Shielded cables must be used for the following connections:
•
Serial data interfaces (RS-232, RS-422)
•
Ethernet interface
•
CAN interfaces
•
Fieldbus interface
•
Digital switching inputs (e.g., incremental encoder)

Trim the cable sheath, if necessary, to obtain the required length.
▸
Shorten the shielding, leaving 30 mm at the bottom end.
▸
Insert the cable through the cable gland.
▸
Put the shielding around the cable gland as shown.
▸
Screw in the cable gland. Tighten using a suitable open-end wrench.
▸
NOTE!
Make sure that the cable is securely attached and cannot be pulled out
(strain relief).
