After the protective device is released and the muting function ends, the request of the
muting function must end after a defined time (max. 10 s, fixed value).

Monitoring of the complementary circuit

2

Interruption of the protective device is expected after a defined time (max. 4 s, depending
on the speed of the conveyor). The muting function starts when the protective device is
interrupted.

3

Maximum duration of muting function is defined (depending on the length of the material
and the speed of the conveyor).

4

Ending of the muting function after the protective device is released and a defined delay
time has gone by (max. 4 s, depending on the speed of the conveyor).

After the higher-level control has requested ending the muting function, the protective
device must be released within a defined delay time (max. 4 s, depending on the speed of
the conveyor). Once this delay time has elapsed, the muting function is ended.

11.3

Time Extension Function

Once the muting function is active after a correct initiation sequence, the Time Exten‐
sion (TE) signal can be used to extend the maximum duration of the muting function.

This function can be necessary in the following situations:

The conveyor must stop while the muting function is active.

The materials being transported on the conveyor are placed directly one behind
the other at a distance of less than 200 mm or at the distances specified in the
risk assessment.

To activate this function, the Time Extension (TE) signal must be set to HIGH during a
correctly initiated muting function. The signal must remain on HIGH while the protective
field of the Type 4 electro-sensitive protective device is interrupted. Changing to LOW for
a period longer than T

Clearance

 ends the time extension.

To prevent a sequencing error, the Time Extension (TE) must end before the muting
function request ends or before the muting function is ended due to the release of the
electro-sensitive protective function.

The Time Extension function is limited to a maximum duration of 100 h pro muting
process.
