10 Troubleshooting
10.1 General faults, warnings, and errors
Possible faults and corrective actions are described in the table below for troubleshoot‐
ing. In the case of faults that cannot be rectified using the information below, please
contact the SICK Service department. To find your agency, see the final page of this
document.

Question or status Possible cause Troubleshooting
LEDs do not light up. Supply voltage is switched off. Check the supply voltage.
The device status LED
lights up red.
A voltage of 10 V is exceeded
at the analog output in current
mode (e.g. due to an open cir‐
cuit). Check wiring to the controller, see
"Electrical installation", page 28 .
Dark balance reports
too much stray light. Measuring head or optical fiber
is contaminated. Check measuring head and optical
fiber for contamination and clean if
necessary,

Measuring head or optical fiber
is defective. Check the measuring head and opti‐
cal fiber for damage. Replace if nec‐
essary.
Device does not dis‐
play a valid measure‐
ment. Device is overdriven. Increase measuring rate or decrease
lamp intensity,

Detection window is set incor‐
rectly. Check detection window settings,

Measuring object is outside the

is too poor. Perform dark balance, see "Perform‐

Sample is not transparent for
the wavelength range used. Check the transparency of the sam‐
ple.
