Requirements for mounting the vehicle detection components
3.6.4.1
TIC102; TIC502 project planning
The TIC102 or TIC502 system components are assembled on a gantry in the center of the
respective lane. Its central position enables it to record as many vehicles as possible
within the range of the 2D LiDAR sensors.
We recommend attaching the system components to a gantry that is
accessible by foot
.
This means that the lanes do not have to be closed for the commissioning process or for
any later maintenance work.
The system components
must
be mounted to a gantry that is 5 to 8 meters above the
ground. The ideal height is 6 meters, measured from the lower edge of the TIC housing or
the lower edge of the 2D LiDAR sensors.
Make sure in any case that the system components are attached at least 1 m higher than
the highest vehicle to be detected.

Fig. 49: Project planning – mounting the TIC502
When monitoring several lanes, the individual system components must be mounted at a
distance of at least 2 meters from one another. A maximum of four TIC102 / TIC502 units
can be connected to the Traffic Controller in one system.
The individual TIC102 / TIC502 units must be on the same measuring plane. They must
be mounted at the same position on the Z-axis vertical to the road.
▸
It is important to ensure that all the 2D LiDAR sensors have an unobstructed view of
the measuring range at all times.
▸
The 2D LiDAR sensors must always be mounted free of vibrations and oscillations.
