Preparing the electrical installation
5.3.1
Supply voltage
For commissioning and operating the LMS, the following are required:
•
LMS500/511: 19.2 … 28.8 V DC as per IEC 60364
F
4
F
41
The LMS draws the following power:
•
power consumption of the LMS500 with maximum output load 24 W
•
power consumption of the LMS511 with maximum heating performance 70 W
Use safety transformer
The output circuit of the power supply must be safely electrically isolated from the input
circuit, this feature is normally provided by a safety transformer in accordance with IEC 742
(VDE 0551).
5.3.2
Wire cross-sections
Wire all connections with copper cables!
Use the following wire cross-sections:
•
supply voltage at least 0.25 mm
2
(approx. 24 AWG), if local power supply in the
immediate vicinity
•
supply voltage at least 1.0 mm
2
(approx. 18 AWG) at maximum length of 20 m
(65.62 ft), if the connection is made to an existing 24 V DC supply
•
switching outputs minimum 0.25 mm
2
(approx. 24 AWG), maximum cable length 50 m
(164.04 ft) with 0.5 mm
2
(approx. 22 AWG)
•
data interface minimum 0.25mm
2
(approx. 24 AWG)
•
For the LMS the outside diameter of the common cable must be a maximum of 9 mm
(0.35 in) due to the cable entry.
All communication cables must be twisted and shielded.
Important
If you use flexible connecting cables with stranded wire for the connection to the terminals
on the LMS500/511, you must
not
use wire end ferrules.
