About this document
Please read this chapter carefully before working with these operating instructions and the
LCUR1411 interface unit.
1.1
Function of this document
These operating instructions are designed to address
the technical personnel of the
machine manufacturer
or the
machine operator
in regards to safe mounting, installation,
configuration, electrical installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the
LCUR1411 interface unit.
These operating instructions do not provide instructions for
the C 4000 Standard/Advanced safety light curtain,
the UE402A0010S01 switching amplifier or
the machine to which the LCUR1411 is connected.
Information on this is to be found in the following documents:
SICK operating instructions “C4000 Standard/Advanced Safety Light Curtain” (part
number 8009856)
SICK operating instructions “UE402 Switching Amplifier” (part number 8009869)
Operating instructions of the machine/system to be monitored.
1.2
Target group
These operating instructions are addressed to
planning engineers
,
developers
and
the
operators
of plant and systems which are currently equipped with a SICK safety device of
type LVU, LVS or AGS and that are now to be protected, without changes to the machine
controller, using a C4000 Standard/Advanced safety light curtain in combination with the
LCUR1411 interface unit. They are also addressed to people who integrate the
LCUR1411 interface unit into a machine, initialise its use, or who are in charge of
servicing and maintaining the device.
We recommend having the technical commissioning performed by SICK service.
1.3
Depth of information
These operating instructions contain information on the LCUR1411 interface unit on the
following subjects:
mounting
electrical installation
commissioning and configuration
care and maintenance
fault, error diagnosis and
troubleshooting
part numbers
conformity and approval
Planning and using protective devices also require specific technical skills which are not
detailed in this documentation.
When operating the LCUR1411, the national, local and statutory rules and regulations
must be observed.
General information on accident prevention using opto-electronic protective devices can
be found in the brochure “Safe Machines with opto-electronic protective devices”.
