Safety inspections and tests
After completion of the electrical integration, configuration and application of the supply
voltage, the operational readiness of the C4000 safety light curtain is indicated by the
green LED on the C4000 receiver (see the SICK operating instructions “C4000
Standard/Advanced Safety Light Curtain”).
7.1
Safety inspection prior commissioning
No commissioning without safety inspection by a suitably qualified person!
Prior to initial commissioning, have the machine or system safety functions fully checked
by specialist personnel and also documented (cf. on this topic the requirements of the
European directive 09/104/EC).
Also observe the operating instructions for the C4000 Standard/Advanced safety light
curtain.
The checklist in chapter 10.2 is an aid for the inspection of the safety functions.
Safety inspection after every change to the protective device!
After every change and maintenance or repairs, have the machine or system safety
functions fully checked by specialist personnel and also documented.
The checklist in chapter 10.2 is an aid for the inspection of the safety functions.
Do not commission if safety function incorrect!
If safe operational readiness is not established during the safety inspection, the defects
found must be rectified first. Then a new safety inspection must be performed.
7.2
Periodic technical checks
Due to the nature of the system and the application, the safety-related state of the entire
system comprising the LCUR1411 interface unit, the C4000 safety light curtain and the
application must be checked at regular intervals (e.g. in relation to the correct safety
distance, correct function, layout and fixing of cables; cf. the EU directive 09/104/EC).
7.2.1
Daily check
Daily or prior to start of the shift, the operators must check the safety functions of the
C4000 Standard/Advanced safety light curtain and the
LCUR1411 interface unit as follows:
for correct function
for visible signs of tampering
The exact procedure for the daily check is described in the operating instructions for the
C4000 Standard/Advanced.
