SHADOWSPEC UMBRELLAS
CARE & MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
Proper care and maintenance are important to extend the serviceable life of all Shadowspec
Umbrellas. Fresh water rinses once a week will enhance the life and long-lasting beauty of your
shade Umbrella.
In cases where you wish to store your Umbrella during the winter season, the canopy should be
cleaned, air dried, and stored in a dry and well-ventilated area. The Protection Cover supplied with
your Umbrella should be used at all times when umbrella is not in use to ensure the longest
serviceable life.
Frame Cleaning Instructions:
Weekly inspection of your Shadowspec product is recommended. Loose screws should be tightened,
and any broken components replaced immediately to avoid further damage to your product. To
clean your frame:
1.
Brush off any loose dirt
2.
Hose down the frame
3.
Wash with warm soapy water
4.
Allow to air dry
Canopy & Protection Cover Cleaning Instructions:
Canopies should be cleaned regularly before dirt is allowed to accumulate and become embedded in
the fabric. Note: The use of heavy detergents and/or contact with heat above 40° C may damage
your canopy or cause shrinking.
For quick cleans, the canopy can be left on the Frame.
1.
Brush off any loose dirt and particles
2.
Hose down the canopy
3.
Clean with a mild soap in lukewarm water (less than 40° C.)
4.
Rinse thoroughly to remove soap
5.
Allow fabric to air dry.
For thorough cleans:
Hand Wash:
1.
Prepare a cleaning solution of 60ml of mild soap for 4L of lukewarm water (less than 40°C).
2.
Clean with a soft bristle brush and allow cleaning solution to soak into fabric.
3.
Rinse thoroughly and allow fabric to air dye.
Machine Wash:
1.
Brush off any loose dirt
2.
Machine wash at 40°C on a delicate/gentle cycle
3.
Allow fabric to air dry
Important Note:
This method of cleaning may remove part of the water repellency. If water
repellency is a factor, the fabric should receive an application of an air-curing water repellent
treatment (such as SM fabric guard).
