Instructions for Installation and Use

Ejektortank
Thank you for choosing the new
Separett Ejektortank
. The
Separett
Ejektortank
can be used with any waterless toilet from which the urine is
piped off separately. It stores urine and then mixes it easily and hygienically
with water, for spreading as a garden fertiliser.
HOW THE MIXER FUNCTION WORKS
The mixer function uses the pressure from a water supply to mix water and
urine in a special T-shaped device at the top of the tank . It takes about eight
litres of water to draw one litre of urine from the tank. The resulting mixture
is of a suitable strength for watering trees, shrubs, gardens or lawns. Any faint
smell of urine which may be apparent when the mixture is being spread will
disappear almost immediately.
ADVANTAGES
The economic benefit is that you no longer need to buy garden fertiliser.
Instead you produce it yourself. The urine produced by one person can
provide enough fertiliser to grow his/her own food!
REQUIREMENTS
You need access to water with a minimum pressure of 2.5 bar (250 kPa). The
higher the water pressure, the more elevation differences the
Ejektortank
can
handle.
LIST OF PARTS SUPPLIED
Connector for ½" garden hose
10 m hose with spray nozzle for spreading urine/water mixture.
INSTALLATION
When choosing the site for the
Separett Ejektortank
, ensure that the urine
hose between the toilet and the tank will have an adequate fall along its entire
length. If you use a
Separett Villa
the urine hose does not need to be sealed
when joined to the
Ejektortank
because the air flow from the toilet will
remove any urine odours. The
Ejektortank
can be partially buried, leaving
only its lid above ground, since it does not need to be moved for cleaning or
emptying. The only height (level) consideration here is that the end of the
hose for spreading the mixture should be no higher than about 1.50 metres
(4.92 feet) above the tank when in use. If it is any higher, the mixing function
of the tank will be adversely affected.
If you need to lengthen the hose for spreading the urine/water mixture
The included 10 meter (33-feet) emptying hose can be lengthened up to a
maximum of 20 metres (66-feet) and only with a ¾" hose. Do not use a
normal garden hose adapter as a connector; these reduce the flow rate too
much. Before you can lengthen the hose, remove the spray nozzle by heating
the hose and the handle with, for example, warm water or a hot air gun. Use a
piece of pipe and two clamps to make the joint. As a suggestion cut about 5
cm (2") of the
Ejektortank
nozzle and use it as the pipe for the joint.
LEVEL INDICATOR
On the lid of the
Ejektortank
there is a hole suited for the Ø 32 mm hose for
urine waste. There is also a level indicator with a float to show when the tank
is almost full. Once it reaches the red marking it can take about 5 litres more
before it overflows.
EMPTYING THE TANK
When you want to empty the
Ejektortank
, connect an ordinary garden hose
with a ½" connector (Gardena type) to the corresponding connector on the
tank. Uncoil the ¾" hose supplied with the tank, ensuring it is not kinked.
Turn on the tap supplying the ½" hose. This will draw urine from the tank and
mix it with water, discharging it via the ¾" hose. The ratio of urine to water
(1:8) in the mixture will remain constant, regardless of variations in the water
pressure (flow rate) (minimum 2.5 bar) from the hose tap. You will hear a
slurping sound when the tank is empty.
CLEANING
After you have emptied the
Ejektortank
, you should flush clean the T-shaped
mixing device and the short section of hose which supplies it with urine from
the tank. To do this you need to stop the flow through the ¾" hose briefly,
either by bending this hose sharply or by pressing its spray nozzle into the
lawn. This will divert the flow of clean water down through the section of
hose which normally takes urine from the tank and will clean the mixing
device too, clearing any build-up of salts from the urine. To drain this
cleaning water from the tank you simply unblock the ¾" hose to restore the
flow.
WINTER STORAGE
In climates where the tank is not used in winter (risk of freezing), empty and
clean the tank as described above. Disconnect the ½" hose. Drain the ¾" hose
as thoroughly as possible.
PLEASE NOTE:
To avoid the risk of blockages, the section of hose inside the tank does not
extend all the way to the bottom. The small amount of urine left behind after
emptying and flushing out the pipes will always be diluted with water and will
not cause any odour or freezing problems if left over the winter.

IF THE EJECTOR TANK IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY
The
Separett Ejektortank
is manufactured and quality-controlled to ensure the
best possible performance and reliability. If, in spite of this, it appears to be
malfunctioning, please check the points in the list below before contacting
your dealer or Separett AB.
If the tank fills up instead of being emptied
1.
Make sure that the water supply pressure is minim um 2.5 bar (250
kPa)
2.
Clean the T-shaped mixing device on the lid of the tank where
clogging can occur.
