Figure 6-8: Selecting type of Transmitter. Here, the pulseEKKO PRO is selected.
If you have a
pulseEKKO PRO
transmitter, select that option. Selecting
Auto
will automatically
set the voltage to the highest allowed for the frequency you are using. This is recommended
setting for most users.
Some users may have the pulseEKKO PRO Variable Power (VP) Transmitter (this is not
available in all regions due to local regulations). This transmitter allows you to vary the voltage
manually by pressing the
+
and
–
buttons on the Voltage button on the bottom of the screen.
The voltage cycles between Level 1 and Level 5, where Level 1 is the lowest voltage used and
Level 5 is the highest. If the VP transmitter is set to Auto, it will use the highest voltage the
transmitter can generate. Remember that sometimes you may want to reduce the power to
prevent the receiver from being saturated at shallow depths, for example, when using 50 MHz
antennas with a 0.5m antenna separation.
Unless you have a pulseEKKO PRO VP transmitter, do not change the voltage from Auto;
otherwise when you leave the System Configuration menu, an error message is displayed and
you will need to come back to this menu and set it to Auto.
The
pulseEKKO 100
is an older type of transmitter for low frequency antennas that is still
supported; select this option if you have this transmitter (Figure 6-9).
