Removing the manual starter
1. Disconnect the start-in-gear protection
cable

2. Remove the manual starter.
Disassembling the manual starter
1. Remove the cover 1 .
2. While holding the starter rope 2 , turn the
sheave drum 3 clockwise until there is
no tension in the spiral spring.
TIP:
Push the starter plunger

away from the
sheave drum

while turning the sheave
drum.
3. Remove the drive plate

and drive pawl
spring 1

4. Remove the sheave drum

5. Remove the spiral spring

. WARNING!
The spiral spring
7
can pop out.
Cover the spiral spring with rags
when removing it.
6. Remove the starter rope

and screw
8 , and then remove the drive pawl 9 ,
drive pawl spring 2 0 , and spring A .
7. Remove the springs B and C , starter
plunger 4 , start-in-gear protection cable
D , and grommet E .
