Use this section to identify and resolve issues on your Sidewinder
appliance
.
•
See “Troubleshooting newly installed or re-imaged appliances” on page 42
for troubleshooting steps on these issues.
•
Some connectivity and misconfiguration problems will most likely occur
immediately after initialization. See “Troubleshooting connectivity and
misconfiguration difficulties” on page 43.
Troubleshooting newly installed or re-imaged appliances
If you are having difficulties with a new or re-imaged Sidewinder
appliance
,
attach a console to the appliance. The
appliance
will display messages on the
console that can provide information about the system’s state.

Nothing happens when you turn on a
new or newly re-imaged system.
Appliance may be ready for its Quick
Start information.
Configure the appliance using one of
the three methods described in
“Selecting the best startup method” on
Startup Guide
.
While using the Quick Start Wizard’s
removable media method, the system
does not reboot.
There may be non-content errors on
the Quick Start Wizard media.
Try again with a new Quick Start
Wizard diskette or flash drive.
While re-imaging, the system does not
reboot.
The appliance may need you to
remove media from its drives. Remove
media and reboot.
You get an error every time you try to
connect with the Admin Console.
This may indicate a network failure.
Troubleshoot your network
connectivity.
