Assembling your Rack
Your Pallavicini Ski Rack needs minor assembly before use. Each rack
deck will have two SeaSucker vacuum mounts attached to it. Hold the rack
deck so that the side with the mounting hole is facing the same direction as
the pump on the vacuum mount (see Figure 1). This will ensure that the set
screw and mounting hole are on the same sides. Check that the set screw
in the bracket is not protruding past the inside wall of the bracket; if it is, turn
it counter-clockwise with the supplied 5/32 Allen key to back it off until it is
flush with the inner wall. Drop the deck down onto the bracket on the
vacuum mount, making sure that the deck is fully seated in the bracket.
Using the 5/32 Allen key, turn the set screw clockwise until it tightens. If the
set screw does not screw all the way inside the wall of the bracket, your
deck is not properly seated on the bracket. Untighten the set screw and try
again. When properly installed, the top of the set screw will be
approximately 1/16” inside the edge of the deck. Tighten firmly by hand.
Repeat for the remaining three vacuum mounts.
Setting Up Your Rack: Mounting Your Skis or
Snowboards on the Carrier
Skis and Snowboards are carried in the rack’s two outer padded
slots. Each slot will hold one pair of skis, back to back, or one
snowboard. Place your skis or snowboard in one of the outer slots.
Push the Inside Snap Knob through the bottom part of one of the
peanut-shaped holes on the same side of the rack (see Figure 2).
Line up the wide groove in the snap knob with the rack deck and
press up into the top of the hole until it snaps into place. Stretch the
retaining cord over your skis or snowboard, making sure to line up
the pad with the top edge of
you skis or snowboard, and
snap the Outside Snap Knob
into one of the three snap slots
on the outside of the rack.
The first time you use the rack,
you should determine the proper set up for your
gear by trial and error. Move the Inside Snap
Knob and Outside Snap Knob into higher or
lower holes to adjust the tension of the retaining
cord. Your skis or snowboard should be held
firmly in the rack by the retaining cord, with no
movement up from the bottom of the slot when
you pull up on your skis or snowboard with mild
pressure.
