TapeStor 8GB Installation Manual
This section describes how to install the TapeStor 8GB
ATAPI tape drive. If you are installing a SCSI drive, go
to page 15.
Examining your computer
Before you install your tape drive, look inside your
computer or read your computer manual to answer to
the following questions. The information you gather
will be used during the installation process.
1. Do you plan to mount the drive in a 3.5-inch or a
5.25-inch drive bay?
2. Do you have two IDE ports or one?
(First find your hard drive. Then find the wide, flat
40-pin cable attached to the hard drive. The other
end of this cable will be attached to your primary
IDE port—probably a socket on the motherboard. If
you have two IDE ports, the secondary port should
be located near the primary port. It may have a
cable leading to your CD-ROM.)
