Rough/Choppy Water
Operation
Avoid operation in these conditions. If
you must do so, proceed with caution
using minimum speed.
Crossing Waves
Reduce speed.
Always be prepared to steer and bal-
ance as necessary.
When crossing wakes, always keep a
safe distance from boat ahead.
Stopping/Docking
The watercraft is slowed by water
drag. The stopping distance will vary
depending on the watercraft size, car-
rying weight, water condition, wind
and current.
The operator should familiarize him-
self with the stopping distance under
different conditions.
Release the throttle at a sufficient dis-
tance before the expected landing ar-
ea, water resistance slows down the
watercraft.
Reduce speed when approaching a
dock then shut off the engine just be-
fore coming alongside.
Beaching
Proceed the same way as for docking
except for the following:
Approach the beach slowly and shut off
the engine when there is about 90 cm
(3 ft) of water under the hull.
-
CAUTION
On GTS/GTI models, if vent grills
are kept below water level, water
will enter the bilge.
◆
WARNING
W hen c rossing wakes, slow
down. Operator and passen-
ger(s) can brace themselves by
posting. Do not jump waves or
wakes.
◆
WARNING
No directional control is available
when the throttle is closed or en-
gine is shut off. On GTS/GTI, nev-
er use the reverse system for
stopping the watercraft.
-
CAUTION
It is not recommended to run the
watercraft to the beach.
