Chapter 9:
Drainage Systems
9.1 General
Most water is drained by gravity to overboard
thru-hull fittings located in the hull above the
water line. It is important to check the drain
system frequently to ensure it is free flowing and
that the hoses on thru-hull fittings are secure and
not leaking.
9.2 Cockpit & Deck Drainage
Cockpit Scupper Drains
Your Scout has two scupper drains located in the
rear of the cockpit that drain the cockpit through
fittings in the hull sides above the waterline. A
check valve built into each scupper drain fitting
reduces the surge of seawater through the scup-
per and into the cockpit while maneuvering or in
rough water.
