5 Monitoring the expansion rate
A control of the clamping force should be done before the first use, after
appr. 100 tool changes and every 3 months at the latest. During monitoring the expansion
rate the ambient temperature should lie between 20 °C to 25 °C.
For this purpose, a corresponding test shaft (accessory) should be inserted at least to the
minimum clamping depth into the Hydraulic Expansion Toolholder. If the test shaft can
not be inserted, unscrew the clamping screw a little bit more by turning it to the left.
Tighten the clamping screw to a dead stop. If the test shaft can be easily removed from
the Hydraulic Expansion Toolholder with two fingers and without any effort, the clamping
force is not high enough.
The Hydraulic Expansion Toolholder should not be inserted anymore.
Send it to SCHUNK for inspection and repair, if necessary.
