3.2.2 Round handlebars with brake lever ring
On round handlebars with a brake lever ring,
the brake functions through gentle pressing
down of the ring (
A
) and is therefore suitable
for children and adolescents with limited pow-
er in their arms and hands, who simultaneous-
ly need the round handlebars as a support
point. The brake lever ring is coupled with the
rim brake.
3.2.3 Round handlebars with brake function
The braking function is triggered by simply
pressing the round handlebars downwards (B).
The round handlebars with brake function is
suitable for children and adolescents with li-
miter power in their arms and hands.
3.2.4 Drum brake in front wheel
The brake lever for actuation of the drum bra-
ke is located on the right-hand side of the
handlebars. Always only use the front wheel
drum brake when riding in connection with the
backpedal brake.
The braking effect may decrease in case of
frequent use; therefore please ensure that
you regularly adjust the Bowden cable on the brake if you notice a loss of
braking force (see point 3.2.1).
3.2.5 Backpedal brake
The backpedal brake is actuated by pedalling backwards. The drive options
of the freewheel brake hub and the 3 or 7-gear freewheel brake hub feature
a backpedal brake.
The backpedal brake is only functional when the chain sits correctly! If the
chain jumps off, it is not possible to brake using the backpedal brake!
The rear wheel may block in case of strong braking procedures. Risk of
crashes!
During long downhill runs, it is essential that you use the backpedal brake
in combination with one of the brakes in the front wheel in order to avoid
overheating of the rear hub brake. This may lead to brake malfunctions!
