Bring the string over the bobbin
and through the Scotch tension spring
bar on the left (figure B)

under the mother-of-all (figure B)
and
■
through the hole in the Scotch ten-
sion rod on the right side (figure C).
Use the thumbscrew underneath
the mother-of-all on the right side to
hold the Scotch tension rod in place.
(Wheels older than late 2003 do not
have the thumbscrew.)

REMOVE THE FRONT MAIDEN
■
Unscrew the knob on the quick
release lever.

Pull the quick release lever shaft
out of the front maiden (you do not
need to completely remove it).
■
Remove the front maiden.
INSTALL THE BULKY
FRONT MAIDEN
■
Insert the bulky front maiden with
the maiden stop (black hex head
screw) facing away from you.
■
Line up the hole in the maiden and
insert the quick release shaft through
the maiden and the mother-of-all.
■
Screw the quick release knob onto
the shaft.
■
Close the quick release lever. The
knob should be just tight enough to
allow firm pressure when closing the
lever.
■
If the lever closes loosely, open the
lever, tighten the knob a bit, and try
closing the lever again. If the lever
requires a lot of pressure to close,
loosen the knob a bit.
