Check that the clearance dimensions between the rail
and the stairway are according to the plan drawings.
Note that vertical clearances are measured from the
bottom of the lower tube to the stair nose or floor.
NOTE
The clearance dimension at the bottom landing is often
42 mm (1.65”) from the bottom of the lower tube to the
landing. You can therefore use a shim to support
the tube at the bottom landing to achieve this clearance.
7
After final verification of all measurements according to
the plan drawings, drill as required and anchor the rails
to the wall using the appropriate mounting hardware
(not provided).
Post mounted
The posts can be:
• Anchored to the steps (Figure 2)
• Anchored to the side of the stairs (Figure 3)
• Anchored to the wall (Figure 4)
1
Refer to the measurements on the plan drawings for the
locations of the posts.
NOTE
Always double-check the mounting location per the plan
drawings
BEFORE DRILLING
any holes.
2
Check the lengths of the posts on the plan drawings to
determine the layout of the posts.
3
Place the first rail section up against the stairs at the
bottom of the stairway per the plan drawings.
4
Starting at the bottom, place the first post behind the
rail in line with the first rail bracket at the location and
height specified on the plan drawings.
5
Ensure the post is plumb and then secure it to the
corresponding rail bracket with a clamp (or two).

6
Refer to the plan drawings and place the next post in
the same manner as the first. Secure it to the
corresponding rail bracket with clamps.

If more than one rail section is required, join the second
section of rail to the first using the hardware provided.
a. If necessary, lightly grease each section at the joint
before joining.
b. Secure the rail sections together using the splice
bolts and nuts provided (see below).
c. Check each splice to ensure a tight fit and no
damage.
