OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

for permanent magnetic lifting magnet

WORKHOLDING AND AUTOMATION

3. Usage:

a) Before putting in operation:

Upon receipt of the shipment, check whether load lifting magnet has been delivered undamaged

and complete. Contact your supplier immediately in case you notice the magnet is damaged

and / or incomplete.
Scope of delivery:
-  Magnet 531.01-150, 531.01-300, 531.01-600, 531.01-1200, or 531.01-2000
-  Type plate and instruction plate fixed to the magnet
-  Test certificate
-  Operating instructions including CE declaration of conformity

b) Ascertain work load limits (WLL):

Since the nominal lifting capacities are to a great extent depending on the workpiece properties,

the holding force must be assessed before each use.
Please bear in mind that the lifting capacity is affected by:

Air gap

between magnet and workpiece because of dirt, paper, burrs, damages, paint, etc.

Material thickness

of

load.

See performance graphs on page 18.

The thinner the load, the lower the lift capacity.

Length and width

of

load.

The lift capacity depends on the size of the steel plate. Minimum size according to 1st

column under max. lifting capacity in the table. For smaller plates the lifting capacity is

reduced according to the 2nd column. Large steel sheets will sag and want to peel

off the magnet. This peel-off effect reduces the loadbearing capacity and limits the

maximum sheet size that can be lifted.

These effects are compiled in the table on page 17.

Material type

of

load.

Load lifting magnets are intended for transporting ferromagnetic flat materials and round

bar stock. A high percentage of alloying elements in the workpiece material results in

  reduced lifting capacity.

The load bearing capacities for the most common materials are specified on

  page 18.

-  The pole faces of the magnet must always be

completely

covered by the workpiece an in

any case to the same extent.
-  Never place the magnet on a large hole or bore in the workpiece.
