Router bits and collets
When using the router, router bits and drills are used. They are clamped in the router with collets.
The collets are designed specifically for routers and are therefore included in the scope of delivery of
the router. The collets used should therefore always be from the router manufacturer.
The clamping diameter of the collets is matched to the shank diameter of the milling tools. To clamp
a milling tool with a shank diameter of 6 mm, a collet with a clamping diameter of 6 mm
must be
used. This also applies accordingly to other shank or collet diameters.
If the pairing of cutter diameter and collet diameter does not match, the router bit
cannot be safely clamped in the router. When the router is started, it will create a risk
of the bit flying off. This creates a very high risk of injury.
22.1
Collets
The router bit is clamped in the router by means of an internal taper, as part of the motor shaft, and
a suitable collet with union nut. These components can only securely clamp the bit if the following
conditions are met:
•
The inner cone and the collet with union nut are undamaged.
•
The inner taper and the collet with union nut were cleaned before clamping the bit.
