System Expansion Capabilities
4.1.1.
System Expansion via mPCIe Interface
The baseboard comes with an onboard full-sized mPCIe interface connector. The connector is intended to be used to
install a full-sized mPCIe WLAN, Bluetooth or combo card or a WWAN card.
4.1.2.
System Expansion via M.2 Interface
The baseboard comes with two onboard M.2 interface connectors with Key B Type 2242 and Key M Type 2280
support respectively. The Key B connector is intended to be used to install an M.2 WWAN expansion card or an M.2
SSD card drive, while the Key M connector is intended to be used to install an M.2 SSD card srive. The function switch
between WWAN and SSD can be selected via BIOS.
4.1.3.
System Expansion via Micro SIM Card Socket
The baseboard comes with an onboard socket for a Micro SIM card.
In order to use the Micro SIM card reader functionality, a corresponding mPCIe modem card or M.2 modem card must
be installed to the full-sized mPCIe socket or M.2 Key B socket of your KBox E-420-R1K/V1K, which can be switched
via the Jumper JP6. The default setting is to connect the Micro SIM card reader to mPCIe.
In case the system has both WLAN and WWAN wireless capabilities, install
an M.2 Type 22x80 SSD drive in M.2 Key M socket;
an M.2 Type 2242 WWAN card in M.2 Key B socket (switch the jumper JP6 to
M.2 Key B); and
a full-sized mPCIe WLAN card in mPCIe socket.
