Adjusting the Speaker Settings
You may make the following adjustments through the Speaker Control menu:
left/right speaker balance, center speaker volume, left and right surround speaker
volume and surround delay. The surround delay is an option that allows you to set
the time delay between the broadcast of sound from the front speakers and the
rear speakers.
The speaker settings that you can adjust are dependent upon the speaker configura-
tion you have connected to the HDTV. For example, if you do not have left or right
surround speakers connected to the HDTV, you will not be able to adjust the L (left)
or R (right) Surround settings.
You may test the adjustments you made using the
TEST
feature in the Speaker
Control menu.
To adjust the left/right speaker balance, the center speaker volume, the left and right
surround speaker volume or the surround delay:
1
Highlight the
Sound
icon and press ENTER.
2
Highlight
Speaker Control
and press ENTER.
3
Highlight the setting you would like to adjust (L-R Balance,
Center, L Surround, R Surround or Surround Delay) and
press ENTER.
4
Move the I-Point control to the left to decrease or to the
right to increase the setting. Press ENTER.
5
Repeat steps 3 – 4 until you have made all of the adjustments you desire.
6
If you would like to test the settings, highlight
TEST
and press ENTER.
The HDTV will emit a test tone from each connected speaker, one speaker at a
time, so that you can verify the settings that you selected. You can adjust the
balance, the center speaker volume and the left and right rear speaker volume
while the test tone is on.
7
When you finish, press EXIT to exit the menu.
Selecting Listening Modes
You can choose different ways to listen to the dramatic effects of Dolby surround
sound. The different listening modes are:
Dolby Surround

technology or four-channel Pro Logic surround sound for
state-of-the-art, theater-like sound. Select Dolby Surround
if you connected surround speakers to the HDTV.
Dolby 3 Stereo
Produces a stereo effect using the front and center speakers
(or if you do not connect external left surround or right
surround speakers).
NOTE
Surround Delay : When
either Prologic or AC-3 is
received and Dolby
Surround (or Phantom
Center) mode is selected,
the time delay between the
front and surround speak-
ers should be adjusted (the
optimal setting will vary
according to personal
preference).
