Conducting Cradle/Cable
HotSync Operations
The simplest way to synchronise data is to perform a
direct HotSync operation by seating your PDA phone in
the desktop holder and pressing the HotSync button.
Performing a Cradle/Cable
HotSync Operations
The first time you synchronise your data, you need to
enter user information on Palm
TM
Desktop software.
After you enter this information and synchronise with
your PDA phone, the HotSync Manager recognises your
PDA phone and doesn’t ask for this information again.
If you are a system administrator preparing several PDA
phones for a group of users, you may want to create a
user profile. See “Creating a User Profile” on page 222
before performing the following steps.
To perform a local HotSync operation on a Windows
computer:
1. Connect the USB cable to the desktop holder and the
computer and then place your PDA phone in the desktop
holder.
IMPORTANT!
You must perform your first HotSync operation with a local,
direct connection or with infrared communication, rather than
with a modem or network.
You must make sure the connection accuracy between your PDA
phone and desktop. If this connection is not seated correctly,
that may cause a data translation failure or your PDA phone
defect. In this case you may reset your PDA phone.
